St. Wilfrid's elected the following church members to represent us on the Parish Council: President Jeff Tiede, Vice President Bernie Davis, Secretary Rose Marie Moran and other council members as follows: Delores Reider, Colleen Swenson, and Jim Moran.
St. Wilfrid's Catholic Church has a number of organizations that we invite you to join. Just contact one of the leaders listed.
*Altar Society - Every adult woman in the Parish is automatically a member of Altar Society. The Altar Society meets periodically throughout the year, is in charge of the Turkey Shoot, serving funerals and other parish events, and renting out the parish hall. **Church Choir sings for Sunday Mass and for major Church liturgies, including special preparation for Christmas Eve Mass. Interested singers are invited and urged to join the choir. Organist is Cindy Larson and guitarist is Gay Lynn Larson. If you would like to play the piano, organ or guitar, or sing in the choir, please contact choir director Paula Linke.
*Knights of Columbus - Eudes Council 1525 of Woonsocket was chartered on December 4, 1910, with a membership of 68. The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization, and has directed its efforts towards that end. They have attempted to reach out to the community by helping with civic services such as the Tootsie Roll campaign, the proceeds of which are given to people with disabilities. They provide transportation to deliver the Christmas boxes to the needy and sponsor the local free throw contest held in January. A seminarian breakfast is held generally every 3rd Sunday to support seminarians in their schooling. In the past, they supported Fr. Chester Murtha and Fr. Larry Regynski of Woonsocket. Currently they are supporting Daniel Smith, Holy Apostles Seminary, Promwell CT. On the 3rd Wednesday of the month, they hold a joint social and supper with the CDA. The KC's have won a number of awards since their beginnings, and most recently received the following awards: 2006-07 Service Program; Council Scrapbook Recognition 2007; Youth Rally, Papal Visit; 98/99 Vocation Sponsor Award; and 2006-07 Elite Council Award. They earned the distinction of Star Council, the international organization's top award for the 1999-2000 fraternal year. The award recognizes the overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program and sponsorship of service oriented activities. The K.C.'s also recognize outstanding effort in the community with the "Knight of the Year" award and the "K.C. Family of the Year Award." *Catholic Daughters of the Americas was organized as Court Holy Heart #163 on February 18, 1912 with 35 charter members. Catholic Daughters were originally known as the Daughters of Isabella. The Catholic Daughters meet on the third Wednesday each month at the KC Hall beginning at 5 PM with rosary, 5:15 PM meeting followed by a Joint KC-CDA Supper Social open to the public. The Court hosts the Joint Social in months February, August and October. Some of the CDA activities include supporting Right to Life activites, giving donations to Morality in Media and supporting MIM white ribbon against pornography campaign during the month of October plus turn off TV Day (February 14), providing CDA Christmas tree in the county courthouse, holding BINGO at the Prairie View Care Center nursing home once a month, donating fruit from the FFA fruit sale to the staff and guests of PVCC and the yearly Education Contest in Art, Essay, Poetry, Poster Computer Art, and Music open to all children grades 4 through 12 and adult CDA members.
