Confirmation is held every other year for Juniors and Seniors. We are currently preparing for Confirmation in May 2004. Requirements are as follows:
1. Mandatory attendance at Sunday (or Saturday night) Mass and Holy Days Mass.
2. Mandatory attendance at all CCD sessions on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights. Any absences must be excused through Paula, and made up.
3. 25 hours of Community Service Community service is volunteering (no $$) your time to help someone else. This should be above the ordinary - not just 25 hours of community service to grandparents and we should see a variety of different people and tasks. The purpose of this requirement is to learn the importance of charity and giving to others without expecting something in return. Examples of community service are volunteering at the nursing home; running errands or doing tasks for the elderly; volunteering at community functions; etc. One group project we will do is put on a supper for our community/parish in the spring. A certificate must be completed and signed to document the community service.
4. Attendance at a Retreat We will be offering a Confirmation Retreat at St. Wilfrid's on Sunday, February 15th.
These requirements are endorsed by Bishop Robert Carlson. All requirements must be met to be confirmed at St. Wilfrid's Catholic Church. Any questions about any of the requirements may be directed to Paula at 796-4558.
To also think about and prepare for: Who will your sponsor be? A sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic and should set a good example in the Catholic faith. A sponsor should be someone who will encourage you and support you in your preparation for Confirmation, as well as throughout your adult life.
