Homepage Development Introduction Your Santel Internet dial-up account comes with space for you to use to make a personal homepage. The amount of space you get depends on which access package you are using. See the Personal Access Packages Page for more information on your space allowance. This page is designed to get you started on using your space. It will probably not answer all of your questions, but it should give you enough information to get started. If you experience a problem with your web page, such as pictures not loading or pages not being found, please direct any questions you may have to the user-supported Web Page Development Message Board. Someone will try to answer your question as soon as possible.
Preparing Your Account
Creating Your Home Page If you are willing to go put in some time and effort, and you want to learn or have learned HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language)", you can use a plain text editor to create your page. Santel Internet has a complete set of online classes established to help you learn all about creating your web page with HTML. The classes are only available to Santel Internet customers, and can be found at Homepage Development Classes. Even if you decide not to create your homepage this way, it is definitely worth your time to look through these pages. They contain lots of good information and have been helpful to lots of our customers already. You may also use applications that are intended to help you create your web page without learning HTML. Some of them include Netscape Composer, Microsoft Frontpage or Frontpage Express. Note: Santel Internet does not support some of the Frontpage extensions that come with the package, such as having counters, guestbooks and built-in search capabilities. There is one thing to remember when creating your web pages. The first page of your web site needs to be titled index.htm or index.html. This is the default name that is looked for and retrieved when someone visits your web site.
