Fifth Grade Scrapbook - 2002-2003
Field Trip to Sioux Falls, November 13, 2002
The 5th and 6th grades took a trip to the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls. When
we got there the two groups were separated. Fifth grade went to explore the
science center exhibits while the 6th grade went to the discovery lab to watch some science demonstrations and then test their scientific
skills by making a motor using a battery, magnet, copper
wire, paper clips and tape. Then we met up for a sack lunch where each group
talked about what they had done. Everybody went to the CineDome
together to watch the film, Africa, the Serenegti. It was very cool! We
followed the migration of the wild animals and saw how it is truly the
survival of the fittest! The last part of the experience led the 6th
grade through the science center and the 5th grade were able to see some
science experiments and then try their hand at being scientists by making slime and bouncy balls (see pictures below). After our fun whirlwind field trip we loaded back on the bus and
returned home in time for the shuttle bus to load and leave. We had an
awesome time!! One of the nicest parts of the trip for our teacher, Mrs. Moody, was when our tour guides
complimented both grades for being such a great bunch and saying
they were very well behaved and well mannered.
