Sanborn Central Rebels

School Directory : Homework/Grading Policies : Mrs. Larson

Philosophy of Homework
Practice is critical to success; therefore, first grade students will have a small amount of homework each week.  Students will need to practice spelling words, word wall words, and math skills as well as read aloud to an adult regularly.  Students will also need to study for tests.  I will send home a study guide a few days prior to the test.

Grading Policy
First Grade students will receive grades on assignments such as workbook pages, projects, and worksheets as well as tests. Students will receive a grade that reflects the total points correct out of the total points available on assignments/tests. The number of points possible on an assignment/test may vary. I will correct work as quickly as possible. If students exhibit difficulty with an assignment, I will reteach the specific objectives missed, and students will correct their work. Grades will be posted on the Parent Portal each week.

All graded papers will be sent home on Friday in the students’ R.E.B.E.L. (Remember Everything to Be Excellent Learners) Book. Tests and other work samples may be kept in students’ work portfolios. Parents may view these at conferences.

The following grading scale is used in First Grade.

S - Satisfactory (85% - 100%)

I - Improvement Needed (78% - 84%)

U - Unsatisfactory (0% - 77%)
