Philosophy of Homework
Students will complete some homework activities in Kindergarten. Students will need to practice their spelling words several times throughout the week. I will also send home booklets for students to practice reading. Students will need to study for tests. I will send a review sheet home with the students a couple of days prior to the test. I may send home worksheets to reinforce skills in math and reading.

Grading Policy
On the Kindergarten report card there is a part called Academic Growth that lists a variety of skills that will be graded each quarter by the grading scale that is listed below. Kindergarten students will get graded on motor and social skills also.

I will correct work as quickly as possible. If students exhibit difficulty with an assignment, I will re-teach the specific objectives, and students will correct their work. Grades will be posted to the Parent Portal by Friday noon each week.

All graded papers will be sent home on Friday in the students’ Friday Folders. Tests will be kept in students’ portfolios. Parents may view these tests at conferences. I will send home a form called “My Test Score” on the Friday following a test. It will be in the Friday Folder, and the form will list your child’s test score.

The following grading scale is used in kindergarten.
S - Satisfactory
N- Needs Improvement
I – Is Developing
