Welcome to a look at our parish family here at St. Wilfrid's. A parish is truly a family as we have God as our father and Jesus as our brother. May we always stay close to God and one another. Fr. Jim Friedrich is also the pastor at St. Charles Catholic Church in Artesian, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wessington Springs and St. Placidus Catholic Church in Duncan. He offers Mass at St. Joseph's on Saturday night, Mass at St. Wilfrid's on Sunday morning, followed by a Sunday morning Mass at St. Charles. Some of our annual events include the Living Stations during Holy Week, the Turkey Shoot in November, and Christmas Eve Mass at 10:30 pm on Christmas Eve. Every parish member is invited and encouraged to participate more fully in the Mass as lector, eucharistic minister, greeter, usher, altar server or choir member. Altar servers (both boys and girls) are trained every year beginning in the 4th grade. Contact Paula Linke to join the choir and Pat Larson to sign up for anything else. Religious education (CCD) is held after Mass for one (1) hour for pre-school through grade eight. To enroll a child, please contact Pat Larson, coordinator. High school classes are held on some Sunday's and some Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm in the rectory basement. Programs such as Living Stations and other activities are planned throughout the year. Fund raising projects such as mowing the church lawn, a supper and BINGO, and Watkins sales are used to help raise money for the youth group activities. Contact Paula Linke to enroll. For sacraments of marriage or baptism, please contact Father Jim at the rectory at 605.796.4666. For baptism, a single session is held with Father Jim for the parents. For marriage, couples should contact Father Jim six months before the marriage so there is adequate time for preparation.
