St. Wilfrid High School Youth Group usually meets on Sunday after the morning Mass, as well as some Wednesday nights, in the rectory basement. We cover a variety of topics during class from religious education to teen issues, as well as participate in a number of projects outside of the class.  Youth leader is Paula Linke

Following are some of our activities:
*Monthly youth Mass
*Monthly movie night
*Field trip such as a visit to the Carmelite Monastery at Alexandria
*Living Stations
*Bowling & Pizza party

We annually enjoy a weekend fun trip.  In past years we have visited Valleyfair, the Niobrara River ski trips to the Black Hills and camping at Lewis & Clark Recreation Area by Yankton. To raise money for trips, the students mow the church lawns in the summer, serve lunch at auction sales, sell Watkins products, and hold an annual soup & sandwich supper with a BINGO.

Confirmation was celebrated in May 2006.  Next Confirmation may be May 2008 or later.
Requirements for Confirmation are as follows:

1. Mandatory attendance at Sunday (or Saturday night) Mass and Holy Days Mass.

2. Mandatory attendance at all CCD sessions on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights. Any absences must be excused and made up.

3. 25 hours of Community Service
Community service is volunteering (no $$) your time to help someone else. This should be above the ordinary - not just 25 hours of community service to grandparents and we should see a variety of different people and tasks. The purpose of this requirement is to learn the importance of charity and giving to others without expecting something in return. Examples of community service are volunteering at the nursing home; running errands or doing tasks for the elderly; volunteering at community functions; etc. Group projects scheduled to date are as follows:  help at Turkey Shoot, put up Christmas trees in church, visit to nursing home, plan and put on elementary Christmas program at St. Wilfrid's, Living Stations, and benefit supper/BINGO in the spring. A certificate must be completed and signed to document any community service.

4. Attendance at a Retreat
We offer an overnight Confirmation Retreat at St. Wilfrid's in November.

These requirements are endorsed by the diocese. All requirements must be met to be confirmed at St. Wilfrid's Catholic Church. Any questions about any of the requirements may be directed to Paula at 796-4558.
